Shai Danziger is an associate professor and is currently head of the
management department.
His research program is focused on understanding consumer behavior. In most of his research human subjects come to the behavioral lab or complete on-line surveys in which they evaluate service waits, arguments, ads, and products. Specific topics that he is currently studying include: Consumer responses to waiting, Consumer understanding of causal arguments in marketing communications, Consumer price perceptions, How language influences thought, Characteristics of consumer written online reviews, The effects of visual transients on goal directed processing on the web, and Differences between what people choose for themselves and what they advise others to do.
His work has appeared in Nature Neuroscience, The Proceeding of the National Academy of Science, Psychological Science, The Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception & Performance, Perception & Psychophysics, Psychonomic Bulletin & Review, The Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, Current Biology, The Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, The Journal of Economic Psychology, Psychology & Marketing, The Proceedings of the Association of Consumer Research and The Journal of Consumer Psychology.
Shai serves/has served as a reviewer for Cognition, Psychonomic Bulletin & Review, The Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception & Performance, The Journal of Decision Making, The Journal of Economic Psychology and for the Association of Consumer Research (ACR).
Shai has received competitive grants from the Israeli Science Foundation, The Psychobiology Institute of Israel, A British Medical Research Council Award, and an Individual National Institute of Mental Health pre-doctoral award.
Shai currently teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in Consumer Behavior, and a Behavioral Pricing research seminar at the undergraduate level. He has also taught Consumer Behavior in English in the Honors MBA program. For a semester he taught Advertising & Promotion and Consumer Behavior as a visiting lecturer at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Shai has a B.A. in Psychology and Business from the Hebrew University, and a PhD degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of California at Davis. After completing his PhD he was a faculty in the psychology department at the University of Wales, Bangor.
