Title of thesis: Positive perception as a Trait and as a state among Women and Men and its Manifestations in the Spheres of Work and Family
Abstract: "Who is rich? He who is contented with his lot" (Our sages of blessed memory). The purpose of this research is to investigate the antecedents, correlates and consequences of positive human perception as a trait and as a state. The research will refer to the construct in work and in family contexts, focusing on the influence of gender and stress. Assuming that positive perception is a general tendency that includes positive perceptions of the self, of other people, of the world and of the future, the research first aimed to develop a valid and reliable tool to measure it and then to use the measure in a series of studies. The suggested research will broaden the current perspective on positive perception by using a variety of methods including both quantitative and qualitative methods, as a temporary state versus a personality trait, in the context of work and of family, at the individual level and at the interpersonal level of couples, among men and among women.
