(Supervisor: Prof. Benjamin Gidron)
This study examines patterns of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Foreign Multinational Enterprises (FMNE's) operating in Israel, in the aim of determining to what extent and under which conditions those could be classified into each of the three ideal types of CSR:
- Ethical CSR, driven by Ethics as a serious business and a feeling of doing what is right,
- Altruistic CSR, driven by good corporate citizenship and the will to be good and to do good and give back to society as an inherent part of the enterprise's values and culture,
- Strategic CSR, driven by strategic decision making, the reduction of social and political risks and development of financial advantages and performance interests.
The study will involve the description, documentation and analysis of CSR policies and initiatives of a sample of 30 FMNE's ranked in the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index, operating in Israel in various industry sectors.
.
The study is exploratory, and, therefore, will be conducted through qualitative methods of in-depth interviews and review of internal documents.
