Research Opportunities for Graduate Students

Students with bachelor's degree from any recognized university in Israel or abroad
are invited to apply to the Albert Katz International School for Desert Studies at the BIDR for graduate work in desert ecology. 
The graduate-level Ecology program offers a M.Sc. in Desert Studies. 
Faculty in the Ecology teaching program from the MDDE and other research departments in the BIDR,
and from other BGU departments may serve as research supervisors. 
Interested students are advised to contact faculty members directly or through the School for Desert Studies.
Acceptance depends on academic merit and the availability of funding.
Information on scholarships and awards is available from Ms. Dorit Levin, secretary of School for Desert Studies. 

Additionally, graduate students in ecology studying at other universities or institutions both in Israel and abroad
may conduct their research at the MDDE, either at the Sede Boqer Campus or at one of its affiliated research centers:
Ramon Science Center,
Hatzeva Research and Development Center
Arava Institute for Environmental Studies
Students should contact a faculty member directly to inquire about research possibilities. 

Studies in Ecology at BGU

The graduate programs of the MDDE comprise of courses taught by
faculty members of the MDDE and other BGU departments,
the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and The Interuniverity Institute of Eilat.
The graduate program includes a core of basic courses in ecology at all levels of
organization from the individual organism to the landscape. 
Additionally, students may specialize in one of several interdisciplinary fields
(agroecology, hydroecology, mathematical ecology, human ecology).
Weekly seminars and journal club meetings are held at the MDDE on the Sede Boqer campus of BGU.

M.Sc.:
Applications may be made through the Ilse Katz International School for Desert Studies
(Ms. Dorit Levin, Secretary) and forms are available from the School website.
Ph.D.:
Applications for Ph.D. studies should be made to The Kreitman School of Advanced Graduate Studies
